These are your care instructions for your tattoo. Read them carefully. Take this sheet with you. It is yours to keep, like the tattoo. Proper care of your tattoo is your responsibility alone, and will affect it’s final appearance. We suggest you read these instructions carefully and ask questions about any part you do not understand. However, do not listen to all the “tattoo experts” who will tell you other ways to care for your tattoo. Follow these directions or call the ACEs Ft O Tattoo Company.
DO NOT USE any type of triple antibiotic ointment such as bacitracin or neosporin. You will hear this again.
1) Every time you clean your tattoo, you should first wash your hands thoroughly.
2) Remove your bandage in one (1) hour. It WILL NOT be necessary for you to rebandage the tattoo, in fact, we suggest you do not put any type of covering (other than loose fitting clothing) over the tattoo again. NEVER USE ANY PLASTIC WRAP over the tattoo as this will create a warm moist breeding ground for bacteria. We do not recommend this dangerous practice for the safety of the client.
3) Wash the tattoo with cool water and a mild, moisturizing type anti bacterial soap, such as dial liquid 4-5 times daily. Use your clean, bare hand to work the soap into a lather, gently rubbing the tattoo for several minutes. We do not recommend using any type of cloth as this could irritate the tattoo, or tear any scabbing that may occur.
4) Thoroughly rinse away any remaining soap using lots of cool water.
5) Now you may gently pat the tattoo dry using a clean towel. Do not rub the tattoo with the towel as this also can irritate the tattoo as well as tear any scabbing that may have formed
6) Put several drops of CUREL’, LUBRIDERM, or Vitamin E lotion onto the tattoo and using just your fingers, gently rub the lotion over the tattoo until it has been absorbed by the skin. NOTE: do not smother the tattoo with lotion and leave it as this will prevent the skin from breathing and increase the risk of scabbing. Also the use of ANY KIND of ointment should be avoided. Ointment is very bad for the healing of tattoos. These "specialized" aftercare products are mostly an attempt by shops to part you with money and line the owners pockets. Some of them do not promote safe healing. Skin lotion is your sefest and finacially best way to heal your tattoo.
7) Avoid Tanning, Hot tubs, Jacuzzis, Steam rooms, Swimming pools (including lakes and rivers) for at least two (2) weeks. After that a very strong skin block (# 50 or more) is suggested before tanning.
8) If any scabbing occurs, do not pick at it as this can result in loss of color
9) As the tattoo heals it may start to itch, DO NOT scratch the tattoo. Gently slapping around the tattoo will help to relieve the itch.
